Jamie Reid, a P7 pupil at Gardenrose Primary School starred in a very special assembly to celebrate him winning the RAP Card (Recreational Access Pass) design competition.

The whole school celebrated as a brass band, made up of pupils from Carrick Academy and GardenRose filled the hall with music.

The aim of the competition was to create a design for the RAP card, and Jamie's winning design will be printed on 15,000 RAP cards that will be distributed through schools to children in South Ayrshire from nursery up to P7.

The RAP Card offers children and young people a variety of discounts in South Ayrshire, including free swimming in Council swimming pools from 12pm to 4pm every day of the summer holidays.

Pupils in S1 to S6 can use their YoungScot or National Entitlement Cards as their RAP Card. A RAP card is only available to children or young people who live in South Ayrshire.

At the assembly Councillor Hywel Davies presented Jamie Reid with a voucher for £250 worth of sports equipment for his school.

Discount information, summer programme activities and information on replacement cards can be found at www.youngscot.org/south-ayrshire

All the entries for the competition will be placed on the YoungScot website during the summer holidays.
