Maybole youngsters' efforts crowned with Duke's award

Youngsters from Carrick Academy received their reward for months of hard work and training at the annual presentation of The Duke of Edinburgh Awards held at Ayr Racecourse.

Fifteen pupils from the Academy received their bronze awards at the presentation.

Lewis Clark, Louise Cochrane, John Dempster, Christopher Gillon, Fraser Hodge, Heather Kerr, Craig Limond, Ashley McLean, Robert McMillan, Joe McSorley, Chloe Miller, Connor Riggans, Daniel Wallace, Grant Ward and Andrew Wyllie.

They were presented with their awards by Alex Cumming Assistant Director of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme in Scotland. This year 240 young people from across South Ayrshire achieved either a bronze, silver or gold award, up 34 per cent on last year.
