Building cracks bring more road chaos to Maybole High Street

  • Cracks in cladding on buildings on Maybole High Street caused the closure of the A77

Maybole's high street has been hit by more traffic disruption, with the latest in a series of delays caused by damage to buildings on the busy road.

In the latest incident, cladding from an upstairs flat fell on to the narrow pavement, causing the road to be closed for a time, due to fears the rest of the cladding could come loose and collapse.

Initially traffic lights were set up by police, before the street was completely closed to allow safe removal of the rest of the cladding.

This incident is the latest in a series which has seen damage to buildings on the busy road causing delays and closures - and increasing calls for a by-pass to take traffic on the busy A77 route away from the centre of town.

You can read more on this story here on the Ayrshire Post website.

Does this latest incident make a by-pass for Maybole even more urgent? What do you think? Post your comments here on s1maybole.

Maybole High Street is a disgrace with all the traffic that thunders down it every day, no wonder the cladding fell of the building. WE NEED A BYPASS NOW.
