Maybole has a long and proud history, Here are just some of the major dates in the history of the town.
1193 - Maybole becomes town, receiving charter from Donnchadh, Earl of Carrick
c1240 - Crossraguel Abbey founded
1516 - Maybole named royal burgh
1777 - Culzean Castle opened
1845 - First Carrick Academy founded
1860 - Maybole railway station opened
